MOC points are available through the ABIM and a subset of other Boards under the American Board of Medical Specialties.
MOC from the ABIM
For physician attendees whose certification is through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points are available for meeting attendance and engagement. Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
To receive ABIM MOC, participants must submit their Symposium Feedback Form, available on the iPlanner, and claim their CME credits for the Symposium. Once these steps are completed, ASCO will transmit all information to ABIM on the participant’s behalf.
ABIM MOC points will only be awarded if the Symposium Feedback Form is completed with detailed responses that demonstrate knowledge gained at the Symposium and how it may apply to practice.
Through the American Board of Medical Specialties (“ABMS”) MOC Initiative to create a wide array of Maintenance of Certification (“MOC”) Activities through the ABMS MOC Directory, Palliative Care in Oncology Symposium: Patient-Center Care across the Cancer Continuum has met the MOC requirements as a MOC Part II CME Activity (apply toward general CME requirement) by the following ABMS Member Boards:
MOC Part II CME Activity
Psychiatry and Neurology
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Note: If a Member Board has not deemed this activity for MOC approval as an accredited CME activity, this activity may count toward an ABMS Member Board’s general CME requirement (only). Please refer directly to your Member Board’s MOC Part II Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment Program Requirements.
