The Symposium program will provide educational and networking opportunities for all health care professionals from research regarding symptom management, to the integration of palliative and supportive care across various types of cancer care settings. Several sessions will address emerging topics in the field, such as immunotherapy and challenges in prescribing opioids, which demonstrate mindfulness of the whole patient experience and allows the audience to remain informed in the rapidly-changing cancer care community. Oral abstract presentations and poster sessions on both days will round out the meeting by providing attendees with the latest laboratory research and its potential impact on clinical care.

The 2017 Symposium will also feature opportunities for networking through programs such as the Trainee and Early-Career Luncheon and faculty-led Poster Walks. A new lunchtime networking workshop provides an opportunity for attendees to network with colleagues across specialties, as well as with faculty and other experts in the field in an interactive setting. In addition, the Symposium will reprise one of the most popular programs at the Symposium—the Death Cafe—a forum that began in Europe and allows people to engage in open, informal discussion about an often difficult-to-discuss topic: the end of life. Due to the popularity of these programs, some networking events will allow seating on a first-come, first-served basis.

The full Program, which includes session times, titles, and faculty, will be available mid-summer.
